Before I wrestle with plot and character and story and craft, I am always looking for inspiration to nurture my creative self. This is my place to chronicle things that inspire me on this journey of learning while I whittle away at my stories.
My background is eclectic. I have lived in both the U.S. and Korea. I have a BA in Psychology from Columbia University and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. I began working full-time when I turned thirteen so the things I’ve done include bookbinding, headhunting, moderating, teaching, market research, new product launches, advertising management, strategic planning, and innovation.
The most exciting chapter of my life (so far!) began in 2009 when I became a member of SCBWI. I started to transition from a corporate career onto the path to become a writer. I received my MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2014, and in 2015, I received the SCBWI Emerging Voices Award for a contemporary YA manuscript.
I am a storyteller. A renaissance woman in training. A big laugher. A sleep talker. Passionate and compassionate. Down to earth. Doodler. Dreamer.
